HTC has announced the launch of Desire 816 mid-range handset at the Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona. HTC also confirmed that it will launch the successor to the HTC One on 25 March.
While HTC Desire 816's price and availability are still being kept as a secret, we do know that the smartphone will sport a 5.5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels resolution) display and be powered by a 1.6GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 SoC processor paired with 1.5GB of RAM. It will come with 8GB of internal storage with support for microSD cards up to 128GB, which may just be the highest expandable memory capacity handled by a smartphone. There's no word on the Android version on the smartphone, though HTC did confirm the presence of a brand new HTC Sense 5.5 UI on top.
HTC Desire 816 sports a 13-megapixel f2.2 rear and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The handset ditches the firm's Ultrapixel camera technology, seen earlier in the HTC One and the HTC One Max. The smartphone is backed-up by a 2600mAh battery, is just 7.99mm thick and weighs 165g. HTC Desire 816 will offer LTE and HSPA+ (up to 42Mbps) connectivity options.
Interestingly, the handset is the first HTC device to incorporate a Nano-SIM instead of a Micro-SIM card. The Desire 816 is said to launch in China by next month around 18 March and will be followed by a launch in April.
The HTC Desire 816 will arrive in white, black, red, yellow and purple colour variants, as seen in the previous leaks via the firm's Sina Weibo account. HTC Desire 8 would also be sporting the firm's native BoomSound functionality.

SAMSUNG GALAXY S5

The Samsung Galaxy S5 is the latest challenger from the South Korean brand to launch into an ever more crowded market, but at least this time the phone has focused on what users might actually want rather than useless gimmicks.
The Galaxy S4 was a strong phone in spite of the insistence that being able to wave your hands over a phone or scroll with your eyes was a good thing.
The Galaxy S5 takes the DNA of that handset and improves on it in most areas. It's a quiet improvement though, which may disappoint a lot of people looking to see the world's highest-res display and an all new metal chassis, but it's one that at least delivers where consumers need it.

Nokia has announced its first-ever smartphones based on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), that can run Android apps and are powered by Microsoft and Nokia services.

Nokia X and Nokia X+ are dual-SIM phones that come with 4-inch 480x800 displays and are powered by 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor. Both have identical 4GB internal storage, with expandable support up to 32GB via microSD card, and are powered by a 1500mAh battery. While the Nokia X comes with 512MB RAM, the Nokia X+ comes with 768MB RAM. Both phones have a 3-megapixel rear camera, but no front shooter. They are powered by a 1500mAh battery.

Nokia XL comes with a 5-inch 480x800 display, a 5-megapixel camera, a 720p front camera, 768MB RAM and a 2000mAh battery, while sharing other specifications with its younger siblings.

All three phones come with 3G support and take Micro-SIMs instead of regular ones.

The Nokia X will go on sale immediately, starting at EUR 89 (approximately Rs. 7,500 not including duties and taxes) in Asia-Pacific, Europe, India, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa. The Nokia X+ and Nokia XL are expected to roll out in these markets starting early second quarter, priced at EUR 99 (approximately Rs. 8,400 not including duties and taxes) and EUR 109 (approximately Rs. 9,300 not including duties and taxes), respectively.

The highlight of the three devices of course is the highly customised version of Android, with its Metro-inspired UI and access to Nokia's own store. While there's no access to Google's Play Store, users can side-load Android apps from any third-party source. Nokia has used AOSP corresponding to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean as the baseline for its operating system.

All devices come with free access to Here Maps, with offline maps and integrated turn-by-turn navigation, and Nokia MixRadio for free music streaming and downloadable playlists. All devices are also pre-loaded with a variety of third-party apps and games.

Nokia X, Nokia X+ and Nokia XL come with free cloud storage from Microsoft's OneDrive (earlier called SkyDrive). With the purchase of any Nokia X family smartphone in select markets, people will get one month of Skype's Unlimited World Subscription for a limited time.

Both the Nokia X and Nokia X+ will be available in bright green, bright red, cyan, yellow, black and white. The Nokia XL will be available in bright green, orange, cyan, yellow, black and white. Colour availability may vary across regions.

The Android 4.4 KitKat powered 4G quad-core device packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 2.26 GHz processor, 3GB of memory and a 13MP rear camera with an optical image stabilization feature to support better snapping.
It’s (yet) another high end smartphone that’s practically all screen, with LG inflating the size of the pane vs last year’s model — bumping it up from the 5.5 inches of the Optimus G Pro to a 5.9 inch full HD pane.
That screen is clasped on two sides by an extra slim bezel of just 3.3mm, with LG touting “an industry-leading screen-to-frame ratio of 77.2 percent”, showing how marginal form factor design parameters have become if makers are shouting about squeezing more screen onto the slab.
The G Pro 2 sports the same rear key controls the company stuck on last year’s G2.  A key placement that’s either wildcard genius or the worst idea in smartphone design history, depending on your view. Just don’t press the phone down on a table and hope it stays powered on.
The new LG G Pro 2 sports a 5.9-inch Full HD (1080 x 1920) IPS display, weighs 172 grams, and measures 157.9 × 81.9 × 8.3 mm - and yet the Korean company calls it a smartphone, not a phablet. It runs Android 4.4 KitKat, coming with an “evolved” KnockOn feature called Knock Code. The G Pro 2 is LG’s first smartphone to offer a high-power 1W speaker, which should make it a multimedia powerhouse. The handset has a 2.1MP front-facing camera, and a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and OIS plus (an improved version of the Optical Image Stabilization which debuted on the LG G2 last year). The rear camera can record 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160) video. Other features: LTE-A connectivity, NFC, quad-core 2.26GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal memory, MicroSD card support, and a 3,200 battery (apparently removable)
